Trust Waikato Raglan Surf Lifesaving - Life Guarding ‘Proactive’, is the key word that makes Surf Life Saving unique, as an essential service.   Surf Life Saving is not a reactive rescue service activated by call outs.   TWSLSC patrols Ngaranui beach (Ocean Beach) each weekend and every public holiday from labour weekend until Easter each year.   By setting out the red and yellow flags that show the safest place to swim and patrolling the harbour entrance using 4 wheel quad and Inflatable Rescue Boats we endeavour to make your weekend at the beach safe and enjoyable.   To become a Lifeguard, the ‘entry level’ qualification is the Surf Life Saving New Zealand Surf Lifeguard Award.   To achieve this award you must be:     • 14 years of age • Able to pool swim 400meters in 9 minutes • Run swim run in the surf • Sit both a theory and practical exam covering resuscitation and rescue techniques.   TWRSLS is committed to ongoing development of guards both in life guarding skills, leadership development, first aid, IRB operating, coaching and instruction and communication, our training will stand you in good stead for the rest of your life regardless of age. To become a lifeguard or join our club fill in the attached membership form and forward to our secretary.   Once you have your Bronze award you will be put on a patrol roster to patrol the beach in the weekends.
